Dropouts from school constitute the most serious part of wastage in education. A dropout is, one who discontinue his studies midway. It is a great loss for the individual and the society and signifies serious loss of resources spent on such person. Skinner puts it emphatically -"Dropping out of school is dropping out of life".

Dropping out before VII standard is very serious, because such persons may soon lapse into virtual illiteracy and all the resources spent on them will come to naught. The dropout rate between class-I and VIII was 52.8% in 1993-94 and for boys it was then about 50%. Between class I and X.The dropout rates were 70% in 1993-94 and for boys it was then 68.4%. Luckily for Bhatkal Muslims, the dropout rate in the primary and secondary schools have been negligible. However dropouts from madrasas has been quite alarming. Jamia Islamia, from which these students generally dropout, has a curriculum with English, Kannada, Mathematics and Science. The dropouts therefore need a little encouragement for rejoining secular educational stream. With due regard to this position, it was decided to start coaching classes for the dropouts and Anjuman Coaching Institute came into being with the prime object of providing instructions for enabling the dropouts to appear for standard VII and standard X public examinations as private candidates. After passing standard VII, the students get admission VIII standard of Islamia Anglo Urdu High School, as regular students and those passing the standard X examination i.e. S.S.L.C. join the college. The public examination of standard VII having been discontinued by the Government with effect from 2004, now Anjuman Coaching Institute prepares students for only S.S.L.C. examination, as private candidates. Since 1993, Karnataka Government has been conducting Common Entrance Test for admission to Engineering and Medical undergraduates courses. Student's passsing appearing for second year Pre University course in Science are eligible for appearing in this test. This test is similar to J.E.E. of I.I.Ts and All India Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by A.I.C.T.E. for admission to technical courses. Karnatak Government has permitted Comed-K and KLRMA to conduct tests on par with its C.E.T. with effect from 2004. The question of imparting training to students for these entrance test, with the help of retired lecturers staying at Bhatkal and nearby places need serious consideration. If it is considered favourably, then' it will be possible to arrange the same through Anjuman Coaching Institute.

Another important issue relates to training graduates for Central and State Civil Service competitive examination. The University Grants Commission renders financial assistance to minority educational institutions for this purpose. It is proposed to submit to the University Grants Commission necessary Scheme for financial support. If the proposal gets through then the responsibility of conducting such training can be entrusted to Anjuman Coaching Institute. For this purpose, additional building will be constructed at Saudagar Vakhar, where Anjuman Coaching Institute is presently functioning.
